 The Aleksander Zelwerowicz State Academy In Warsaw has a great pleasure to announce the 5th International Theatre Schools Festival, to be held from 15th till 22nd of June 2009. The first Festival in 2002 commemorated the 70th anniversary of our Academy. Now, as regular event, it is being organized in biennial cycle. From its beginning the President of the Republic Of Poland assumed his honorary patronage over the Festival, the main sponsor of this event is the Community of Warsaw and the partner in organization – the National Theatre in Warsaw and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. As during its former editions, the festival program will consist of the performances presented by the participating schools, of the workshops led by internationally renowned masters of performing arts and of the fringe presentations of different kinds. During previous four editions of the Festival Academy had privilege and pleasure to guest almost 40 schools from all over the world (most countries of Europe, Australia, China, Israel, Japan, Mexico, USA) – some of them has participated in every edition, hundreds of guests, and thousands of viewers. Theatre school performances, forming the main stream of the Festival will compete for valuable prizes awarded by the international jury. So far, the jury has been chaired by Jacque Lassalle and Andrzej Seweryn, with participation (among others) of Valery Fokin, Boris Kudlička, Mark Ruvenhill, Gabor Zsámbéki. Among the workshop leaders we hosted Mario Gonzales, Kalamandalam Balasubramanian, Włodzimierz Staniewski and Aleksiey Levinsky, Zygmunt Molik, Leszek Bzdyl, Vladas Bagdonas.The Festival gives to its participants an opportunity to share their experience and vision, to spend a week together and bind contacts. The organizers provide accommodation to participants for the duration of the event and the opportunity to participate in the entire program of the Festival – as declared in attached rules and regulations.We kindly invite you and your school to apply for the 5th International Theatre Schools Festival.
